In the beginning God –
The first four words of the Bible. It goes on to finish the sentence and say what God did and what He said. The most important part though is that "In the beginning God."
I can't wrap my brain around that too much. But He was and He is.
Less than 300 words from the end of the Bible Jesus declares,
"I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." Revelation 22:13 NKJV
Everything started and ends with God. He is an infinite, measureless God.
“Thus says the LORD, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
‘ I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God." Isaiah 44:6 NKJV
And his Redeemer, the LORD of hosts:
‘ I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God." Isaiah 44:6 NKJV
Jesus, God the Son, is the beginning, the expert, and the authority of our faith; in the end, He completes our faith and puts the finishing touches on it.
looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, Hebrews 12:2a NKJV
We can trust God from the beginning to the end--from the start to the finish. We can trust Him with the details. One of the most encouraging scriptures to me is:
being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ; Philippians 1:6 NKJV
I have faith that every thing God started in me, He is going to finish. This gives me hope because I recognize that I can't do it without Him. For all my shortcomings and all of my failings, He is able to work them out; sand them down; and put the finish on them to make everything good.
Even though I've memorized that scripture in NKJV, I understand it better in the Amplified version:
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you. Philippians 1:6 AMP
Today is going to be a good day! What you see in me is not the end of me. There are better things to come . . . I am convinced! Thank You Jesus!
